Divine Mercy Society

God our Father out of the great love He has for us gave us His only son to redeem the world from sin and show great mercy to the sinners. No sin is too great for the divine mercy to forgive.
Catholics all over the world have set aside a week to praise the great mercy of the Lord. Pope John Paul II has determined in the Roman Missal, after the title "Second Sunday of Easter" there shall hence be added to the appellation (or Divine Mercy Sunday). From the offices of the congregation for the Divine Worship and Discipline of Sacraments, May 5, 2000.
St. Faustina was chosen by the Lord as the secretary of his mercy and he said "I have chosen you for that office in this life, and the next."
St. Faustina

The feast is celebrated on the Sunday following Easter Sunday and is celebrated especially as a refuge for all souls. On this Sunday, a repentant soul is promised that all sins will be forgiven.
St. Faustina's diary contains at least 14 passages in which our Lord is requesting that a "feast of mercy be officially established in the Church. On that day it is believed that the very depth of His tender mercy is open. He will pour out a whole ocean of graces upon those souls who approach the fountain of His mercy. This feast is a reminder for mankind to be merciful to all around them.
The Feast of Mercy gives us the grace of a second baptism where we are cleansed of all our sins. The soul cleaned on the feast of Divine Mercy is like the soul of a newly baptised Christian.
On this day Jesus not only wishes to shower people with saving graces but also with temporal blessings, and this refers to both individuals as well as communities of people. All graces are accessible to everyone who asks it with great trust. The Lord did not attach such an extraordinary abundance of benefits and graces to any other form of devotion.

In the year 2000, the Sunday after the Easter Sunday, His Holiness Pope John Paul the 2nd named that Sunday as “Divine Mercy Sunday”. It was after that the team of the Divine mercy group was born under the leader of Mr. Damascus Peiris, in the Parish. Blessed Mother Faustina Kowalska who conveyed the message from the Divine Mercy to the world was canonized as a saint on 30 April 2000 (Good Friday) by his Holiness Pope John Paul the 2nd. Our Activities: The Divine Mercy rosary and the Divine Mercy Litany is recited for 9 days daily at 3.00 p.m. from Good Friday to Next Saturday which comes after the Easter Sunday.
The Feast of the Divine Mercy is celebrated in a highly spiritual manner on the Sunday next to Easter Sunday. After the Holy mass on the Feast on the Feast day, all members of the society walk up to the picture of the divine Mercy and give its due respect and later Give Oaths.
